Graham and Debbie Rice had a big week this week, celebrating 46 years of marriage on Monday and Debbie’s birthday on Tuesday.
The couple met in high school in Canowindra, Debbie a St Eddies girl and Graham a Canowindra High student. They were married at St Edwards Church Canowindra where they partied until midnight in order to ring in Debbie’s 21st birthday with a birthday cake.
Graham and Debbie say that it was not uncommon for catholic school kids to match with public school kids, despite some teachers’ reservations, and that many of their friends did the same and are still happily married.
After 15 years in Canberra, they returned to Canowindra permanently where they own and operate the Canowindra Newsagency which they are hoping to sell this year to enjoy their years of retirement with their three children and six grandchildren.
Graham and Debbie celebrated on Tuesday evening with a night out for a pub dinner with family in Canowindra.
