It was another weekend, and another Championship for Central West Throwers with seven athletes competing in the U20’s and Open ACT Championships.
First to compete was Lilly Hewitt (Canberra) in the Open Shot Put, Lilly threw a personal best of 11.33m bringing home the Gold Medal for the ACT. Next up we saw Kara Baker (Canberra) and Ashleigh Mcinerney competing in the Open Women’s Hammer. Kara threw a personal best of 50.92m, finishing with the Gold for ACT and placing 2nd overall, Ashleigh finished in 6th place.
Next up was the Women’s U20’s Hammer, this year CWT athletes in the U20’S moved up to throw a 4kg Hammer which is a big difference for them. Canowindra’s Emily Thomas won the Silver Medal with a personal best of 47.34m, that’s a 2m improvement, Mia Zasiadczyk (Canberra) had great competition for for first with a 4kg hammer throwing a personal best 41.42m winning Gold for ACT and finishing 4th overall, Zoe Kong (Canberra) finished with Silver for ACT and 5th overall and also throwing a personal best 35.43.
The final athlete to compete on Sunday was Damian Wells (Canberra) in the Men’s Open Hammer, Damian finished with the Gold for the ACT and finishing 2nd overall with a personal best 59.90m.
Coach Ernie is very excited as now his athletes continue to train for NSW State Championships in March and Nationals in April.
