Hello readers and welcome to this month’s column!
Winter is definitely here! It is nice to have all the fires going at Montrose.
I have had a few birthday lunches and dinners. One group from Canberra, the Westlakes, had a black tie do for the patriarch of the family who turned 80.
In the last week of May, I had a huge Saturday with Brian Wythes’ 70th birthday luncheon for 40 family members, a clean up at the cemetery and another birthday dinner for my great mate Peter Russell’s 60th birthday.
The Lions Club has been busy too. Near-ly all the members did well over 60 hours each on driver reviver and team penning. The week before we did a barbeque at a clearing sale and cooked over 300 steak and sausage sangers for about eight hours. They do a good job in the community and I think not a lot of people are aware of just how much they do. The week before, we manned the barbeque for 24 hours for the Tractor Trek at the Showground. Well done to President Darryl Fleidner and his bunch of merry men.
This weekend, 20 June, we will be painting the pole around the town clock and putting it up after we had it repaired. Big thanks to Charlie and Alex Rowston from Cowra Hire for donating the scissor lift for nothing. Well done guys.
I have just been elected chair for the Australian Lions Federation, so I will be pretty busy with that.
Do not forget we have Christmas in July for the whole month of July. I am doing lunches and dinners with delicious, festive food in a beautifully decorated room. It is a great atmosphere, so bring your family or staff for a night out. Give me a ring on 6344 1006.
Take care, do not forget to rug up and be kind to each other.
