Hello readers and welcome to this month’s column,
Goodness me! The town has been so busy with such beautiful weather!
Easter Saturday, I had a very elegant luncheon to celebrate Cass Bennet’s mum Margaret’s 80th birthday. On Sunday, Cowra lady Maree McKay hosted a luncheon in our conservatory. Monday night, I hosted a special dinner for great friends Rose and Warren Lawson’s 35th wedding anniversary. It was a lovely night with good food and company. Best wishes to this special couple!
I have lots of visitors arriving in the next couple of weeks to take advantage of this glorious autumn weather and fly balloons around our beautiful countryside. Only a couple more weeks until the Balloon Challenge week. There are lots of great activities to include the locals, the balloonists and visitors to town.
Thursday night is my cocktail party to introduce the balloonists to the locals. There will also be a night market. Saturday morning from 9:30am, there will be parades down the main street, market stalls, fairy floss and an ice-cream van. We are calling on all the kids in town to decorate their bikes for the parade. The best-dressed bike gets a great prize. The cutest pet, doll or teddy bear will also be judged that morning. The craft shop will be running a cake decorating competition with a balloon theme.
Local sports groups and schools are encouraged to man a stall. My torsion dancers will be performing and local buskers too. Please get involved. It is all for the good of the town.
Lastly, I have not gotten anywhere with Cabonne Council regarding the local cemetery, even with newspaper support and an interview with the ABC. I would like to organise another Sunday clean-up before Mother’s Day. If we involve enough people, mowers and whipper snippers, we can knock it over in a day. Let me know if you can help.
Take care, Tommy x
