Hello readers and welcome to this month’s column, the last one for the year!
What a year it’s been! It started off with drought, bushfires and bloody COVID which was very hard and very strange to say the least but as Aussies we just battle on, finishing the year with record rainfalls and bountiful crops, the best in 5 years. It’s a good finish to a pretty lacklustre year. Bring on 2021.
We’ve had a good year at Montrose House with lots of functions. We started with 180 people for Richard Glasson’s farewell wake in the backyard while I received my OAM on the same day!
I had just come back from my coastal holiday on 8th March and went straight into lockdown. I had no complaints with three months of sleeping, eating and relaxing. I loved the break. By mid-June we were booked solid with visitors right up until this week. People actually got out to the country in their own state. I think Aussies looked at all we have to offer and realised just how lucky we are to live in the best country in the world and don’t us country folk know it!
There has been a lot of media exposure this year for Montrose House, myself and Canowindra with the Today Show, Destination NSW, ABC Central West and most recently Better Homes and Gardens with Johanna Griggs. It’s been lovely.
On a personal note, I’m proud of the barrels in the main street which I have maintained and also the sprucing up of the local cemetery with the Lions Club.
I want to wish you all a happy, prosperous and healthy Christmas and new year.
Love Tommy x
