Hello readers,
Summer’s here and the Christmas spirit is in the air! I’ve decorated Montrose, going over the top both inside and outside! If you can’t do it now, when can you? After the crappy year we’ve had with COVID it’s just lovely to be back to normal.
We’ve been booked solid with guests for the last month and lots of wonderful functions as well. We finished October with a dinner for two lovely locals, Peter and Denise Gillbank, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Congratulations! Melbourne Cup was celebrated with a lovely group of well-dressed ladies looking gorgeous, fashion parades from Frock On and lunch followed by high tea after the race.
The following Saturday Trish Wild from Sydney arrived with her group for formal dinner and Marise Zell and her Dubbo friends arrived for a birthday frolic in the Tuscany Room. Sunday saw a gourmet breakfast for a group from Riverview School and a formal Christmas dinner for Gayle Davis and friends.
Don’t forget our Christmas Shopping Night on the 28th November! We are doing a Lions BBQ from 5pm and Amanda Friend will be taking Christmas photos. There will be live music and market stalls so come on down and support our Chamber of Commerce!
Big thanks to all who helped with the cemetery cleanup on Sunday, 8th November and to the Lions for the BBQ! There will be another one mid-December. I spoke to Beagle at Earsman’s and he will pay for a load of gravel to fix sinking graves and rabbit holes. The council will be supplying staff to spread the gravel.
I’ve been beautifying Canowindra by putting new lights in the barrels in Main Street and having the grass cut in front of the old servo so the drive into town looks welcoming! That’s my Chrissy present for our town! So get into the Christmas spirit! Be kind to one another.
Cheers, Tommy
