The CSIRO are conducting research in our region to see if there is a correlation between native species diversity, land management, soil conditions and the age of restoration plantings. The CSIRO would like to undertake soil testing within revegetation plantings particularly around phosphorus levels to help guide restoration efforts into the future.
The CSIRO needs plantings that range in age from 0-5, 6-20 and over 20 years of age. At this stage they are interested in any type of revegetation including shelter belts.
Ideally the sites would be within 5-10km of Canowindra, Lyndhurst, Woodstock or Toogong cemeteries but could be up to 20km away if they are a similar soil type.
Individual results will be given to participating landholders and copies of any reports/publications that are produced will be available as well.
