Men’s Bowls

Twenty players competed in mixed mufti bowls last Friday night with the winners on countback being David Crowe and Liz Thornberry and the runners up being Steve Kirkman and Jenny Middleton.

Last Saturday two semi finals of the minor pairs was played. Garry Fairley and Ron Symons had a comfortable win 29-6 against Brad Bourke and Sparky Wright. In the other semi final Jack and Harry Webb were able to take control in the second half of the game against Crock Watt and Larry Nunn to win 24-18.

Last Sunday four games of the major pairs were played. Tony Tuimauga and Vinnie Mirto had a comfortable win 26-14 against Michael Traves and Steve Kirkman. Jack and Harry Webb played Westy Wyburn and Phil Lees. Westy and Phil were able to edge away in the second half of the game to win 21-15. Brad Bourke and Ian Nelder played Dool Beath and Nick Delaney. After 16 ends it was anyone’s game with the score being 16-15 in favour of Dool and Nick. In the next four ends Dool and Nick scores 10 shots to win the game 26- 16. Peter Taylor and Roger Traves played Crock Watt and Larry Nunn. In a boilover result Crock and Larry won the game 21-10 against two more experienced players.

Friday February 28: Social mixed pairs mufti bowls with names in by 6pm for 6.30pm start. $10 per player. One game of 15 ends.

Saturday February 29: First round of pennants to be played against Orange Country Club at Orange Country Club. Bus leaves Club at 11am. 6’s teams are S Fisher A Wyburn D Beath R Traves. T Mooney S Kirkman V Mirto A Robson. J Webb P Taylor T Tuimauga P Lees. 7’s teams are – B Jenkins D Mooney J Middleton N Morrow. R Symons B McClintock H Webb Z Lees. B Bourke L Nunn M Wright N Delaney.

Sunday March 1: Second round of pennants to be played at Canowindra. 6’s play Bathurst City. Teams are- Z Lees A Wyburn D Beath R Traves. P Jones S Kirkman V Mirto A Robson. J Webb P Taylor T Tuimauga P Lees. 7’s play Manildra. Teams are N Knight T Mooney P Kennedy W Fisher. R Symons B McClintock H Webb I Nelder. D Watt L Nunn M Wright N Delaney. 10.40 am roll up. Presentation of 2019 championship shirts will follow after conclusion of play of the second round of pennants.

Saturday March 14: Major pairs G Fairley and R Symons V D Watt and L Nunn. M Lawrence and A Robson V D Beath and N Delaney. B and C Webb V A Wyburn and P Lees To be played by March 15.

Minor pairs final: J and H Webb V G Fairley and R Symons. This game to be played on or before March 7.

Wednesday badge draw will be $1,150, Friday badge draw will be $1,500 and Sunday badge draw will be $550. Bingo this Thursday 11am.
