Men’s Bowls

21 August, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Thanks to Bob and Shirley Robson who sponsored the Mixed Mufti Bowls afternoon last Saturday. Twelve teams competed and had an enjoyable afternoon. The winners were the team of Phil and Zac Lees and Brian McClintock and the runners up were the team of Vinnie Mirto, Peter Taylor and Barney Robson. A consolation prize was awarded to the team of Westy, Tot and Tony.

Last Sunday the Major Fours Final was played with Michael Traves (sub for Peter Taylor), Pat Kennedy, David Beath and Roger Traves against Brian McClintock, Ian Nelder (sub for Bruce Webb), Steve Kirkman and Cyril Webb. Cyril’s team got off to a good start leading 17-nil after six ends. This was enough of a lead to ward off any challenge from Roger’s team. Cyril’s team won the final 28-20. The Consistency Singles Final was also played with Tony Tuimauga against Vinnie Mirto. Tony took control early in the game to lead throughout to win the final 153-127.

Saturday August 24: Minor Fours – K Walker, L Nunn, P Markcrow and T Tuimauga v A Wyburn, D Watt, W Fisher and B McClintock.
Sunday August 25: Major Pairs – N Delaney and D Beath v P Markcow and T Tuimauga.

Nominations are now called for the Mixed Pairs as well as the Major and Minor triples.
