Men’s Bowls

19 August, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last weekend saw an interesting O’Brien Cup match in which David and Peter, who just recently won the Major Pairs final, went in hot favourites against Graham and Michael. The champions had a five shot disadvantage going in, which proved a hurdle too high to jump to complete the double.

Graham and Michael went to an early lead and cemented the game in the middle stages winning 6 straight ends. Peter and David failed to bridge the gap until the second last end with a 4 count, with the final score 29/24. The win put Graham and Michael into the final but unfortunately they have to wait a few weeks to meet their opponents.

Jamie S and Greg C went to Forbes last weekend, with a great time had by all.

This weekend Tia and Tracey will play Jamie S and Marc S in an O’Brien Cup match on Saturday at 12pm. On Sunday Corey and Brent play Greg C and Peter Tanti at 1pm, providing Peter is home from his work.

The Major jackpot draw is on 30 August at 7.30pm.

Badge draws this week are Wednesday $300, Friday $200 and Sunday $950. Good luck to the teams playing away this Saturday in the Orange tournament.

Due to government and supply increases, the club is reviewing prices on various products and the decision on this review will be implemented in the first week of September.

This review at this stage does not affect tap beer. All products will have a non-member and member prices.

The disabilities toilet is now complete and we thank patrons for their patience. Thanks also to all tradies and volunteers that have helped bring this much needed asset to the club.

On 25 September we have a number of school kids visiting for a bowls activity, so if you can make your bowls available please contact Ellie.
