Men’s Bowls

20 May, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra performed well overall at the zone 4 playoffs at Parkes Railway Club last weekend. The Canowindra team had a very good win against West Dubbo 68/49, and a 9/1 win. This set up a promising afternoon against the strong Bourke team. Scores were fairly even early, with Bourke getting the upper hand late in the match 61/54 and a 9/1 loss.

Our team returned on Sunday with a very slim chance of of victory. Coonarabarabran held a strong lead midway through the first two thirds of the match. Canowindra fought back, with all eyes on the last two games as the score gap on the board was narrowed to a possible win. Canowindra required three shots on the last end to get draw, but unfortunately only managed two shots, giving Coonabarabran the win 50/51 and 9/1 which will now see them progress to state.

New players in the Canowindra squad gained valuable experience for the future games. They all played well and will hopefully take up the challenge of regional matches ahead.

Games this week will be played by mutual agreement with remaining games to be played the following weekend.

Greg, Jamie and Peter travelled to Wallerawang with mixed results in a strong competition.Good luck to travelling bowlers this weekend.

Get your names up for the next competition. Badge draws for this week are Wednesday $1,350, Friday $800 and Sunday $300.
