Men’s Bowls

6 May, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

On Tuesday evening Barney Robson and Teddy Lawrence played Ben Rooke and Tony Tuimauga. This was a game that Barney and Teddy took a firm grip on, winning early. Barney played some of the best bowls as lead and Ben tried valiantly to match Barney’s bowls. Teddy converted many opportunities to surge ahead in a comprehensive win 28/12.

In other major pairs matches David Beath and Peter Taylor played Jamie Grant and Cristy Webb. In the early stages Jamie and Cristy led the more experienced pairing and were in front 8/2 on the 5th end. Dool and Peter found some form and pegged back the lead to be equal 9/9 on the 11th end. Unfortunately the wheels somewhat fell off for Jamie and Cristy, dropping multiple shots over the preceding next ends 3 to their opponents 20, final score 29/11 to Dool and Peter. Although Jamie and Cristy didn’t win it was a gallant effort.

Roger Traves and Phil Lees played Brent Lees and Warren Rodis, with Roger and Phil trying to get over their first round hoodoos. The game was evenly poised in the first 6 ends, when Roger and Phil scored 5 shot advantage setting up a win. In the next few ends Roger and Phil scored 8/4 to lead 16/9. Warren and Brent were unable to recover with final score 23/13.

Tim DeLange and David Watt played Glen Seton and Deb Hood. Tim and Crock have been in good form over the past few games, and interestingly an even match prevailed.

Glen and Deb trailed 3/9. Then over the next few ends Deb and Glen scored 13/2 to lead 16/11. Glen and Deb looked to have the game in hand 22/15 and only had four ends remaining. Not to be out gunned Tim and Crock won the last four to only just miss

out on the win 22/21. It was a very good game.

In the minor pairs played on Sunday Jamie and Cristy headed out again, this time up against Greg Chester and Marc Stevens. After five ends Greg and Marc had a comfortable lead and were never headed in a comfortable win.

In the Minor Pairs this weekend, Lisa and Kieth v Eryn and Bruce at a time to be confirmed.
