Men’s Bowls

22 April, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

In the minor singles Greg C played newcomer Corey R. The more experienced Greg took an early lead having a 10 shot advantage 16/6. Corey recovered his previous form and slowly reduced the gap, bringing the game to be evenly poised and either players for the taking. Both players went end to end, with Corey taking the leading 23/19. In the last three ends Greg scored a 1,2, and a 3 to take the win 25/23. It was a great game over 32 ends on a cool Friday evening. Greg now plays his pairs partner, Marc S in the final on Sunday at 1pm.

Ben R defeated Marc S in the major semi final on Tuesday night. In the early section of the game scores were fairly even. Marc finally fell to Ben’s consistency of draw bowling to go down 25/14. Ben now goes into the final on Sunday at 1pm in a back to back performance against Brad Bourke in his first Major singles final. This game will be a must see as both bowlers are very similar in their performance and are both in good form.

Both finals are shaping up to be an exciting afternoon of bowls, we anticipate great support for all players on the day.

If any pairs wish to play they are most welcome as all other matches will be drawn on the following weekend. Players in both format will be playing on both days. The major pairs on Saturday 2 May and minor pairs on Sunday 3 May.

Lisa and Kieth are playing Crock and Tim this Thursday. Thursday afternoon bowls on 30 April bowls will be for men only commencing at 1:30pm.

Monday we have social bowls at 1.30pm for $10 a head with a BBQ for players after bowls.

We had eight players enjoying a sunny Sunday afternoon on excellent green surface.

Friday night bowls continue even though it is a little cooler than normal.

There will be no bowls scheduled due to Anzac celebrations and the club will be opening at a later time of 12pm after the town remembrance ceremony.
