Men’s Bowls

18 February, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra had mixed results on the weekend after the first and second rounds of pennants. The 6s had a comfortable win over a slightly under strength Caragabal team.

The 6s won all three rinks resulting in a 10/0 victory. The 7s had an impressive win over Cowra. Canowindra won one rink, a draw and loss on the other two teams.

On Sunday the 6s travelled to Cowra and finished the day with a 9/1 loss.Cowra has a strong team and on the quick green Canowindra was unable to match Cowra on their turf. The 7s went to Eugowra hoping for a repeat from Saturday games. The sluggish greens were the downfall of many players.

The 7s ended with a 8.5/1.5 loss.

This week teams are home to Parkes Railway and Manildra with play at 11am.

Players are asked to be at club at 10.30am.

6’s teams:

• Phil, Brent, Teddy

• Tony, Jack, Glen

• Eryn, Dool, Barney

• Warren, Ben, Brad

7’s teams:

• Mick T, Greg C, Larry

• Graham T, Crock, Steve F

• Corey, harry, Jamie S

• Jarrod, Tim, Deb H

Club games saw Jamie G playing Marc in the majors singles. Scores were close early, tied on 11/11 however, Jamie scored two on the next end to lead. Marc took control of the match from there to win 25/13. Both players returned the next day to play minor singles.

This was a totally different story with Marc was dominating from start to finish and resulting in a comfortable victory.

Christy had a good victory over Nick in a very tight and thrilling game minus singles.

The game was locked up with nothing in the scores going down the last end with Christy leading 24/22. On the final at one stage Nick held game with three shots by putting the kitty into the ditch only for Christy to draw

the winning shot in a great game of bowls with the final result 25/22.

Social bowls have been well supported with twilight having excellent numbers and great competition. Thursday bowl have been very good considering the warm weather.

The jackpot has been won, so we start building again. Don’t forget to put names in for the Cheesey Makin Bowls and Golf Day coming up on 28 February.
