Men’s Bowls

11 February, 2026 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

There were two great games of Major singles played over the past week. The first game on Friday evening showcased two players who could easily have been in the final, let alone a first round. Mathew Lawrence played Brent Lees in a game of high quality bowls, Mathew went to an early lead which could have been a winning margin of 16/9. But Brent gathered his fighting spirit and came home strong, winning 12 ends to five to eventually lead 23/20. In classic draw bowls end Mathew was down, and with his last bowl picked up the Jack and pushed it to his bowls three back bowls to lead 24/23. On the last end Mathew drew two shots and Brent was unable to gain the advantage for a final score of 26/23. It was a great game!

In the second game on Monday evening Cristy Sullivan-Webb played Harry Webb.

Cristy started well leading by 10 shots.

Harry fought back to lead 19/18.The match could have gone either way, however Cristy played well to complete the victory 26/21.

All minor and major bowls can be played by mutual agreement especially while pennants are on. Draws for both competitions are on the board.

The Club is progressing with planned renovations over the next few weeks, so we are asking for patience until these works are completed. Once completed, they will be beneficial to all members and guests.
