Men’s Bowls

17 December, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Two competition bowls matches were played over the week. Ben Rooke continued his good form defeating Marc Steven’s. Ben went to a commanding lead and looked to run away with the game. Marc fought back to only be 13 points behind 3/4 way through the game. Ben rallied and won the match in a solid performance. Well done Marc in reaching the semifinals.

In the other match, a much anticipated semifinal of the open fours was played on Saturday morning. The green a little slower than normal after recent rain, saw a close encounter follow. The team of Teddy, Barney Deb and sub Jack for the injured Glen, went to an early 9/2 . Brent, Phil, Tot and Charlie V8 found their rhythm and narrowed the margin to only a few shots.

Brent’s team had a couple of multiple shots 3/4 way through the game to have a four shot lead. The rain came with two ends remaining with Brent, Phil, Tot and Charlie V8 leading by two 20/18. After a short break play continued and Brent’s team gained a single shot on the remaining ends to win 22/18. Well to all player s in a great match which could have gone either way.

The final of open fours is now drawn to play with the skip to arrange a suitable time.

Ben Tony, Peter and Caine will play Brent, Phil, Tot and Charlie V8.

The Consistency final was played on Tuesday 16 December with Larry and Ben playing off, in an interesting matchup.
