There was plenty of interest in the matches last weekend. The consistency competition was at fever pitch with very exciting matches.
Marc Steven’s played a great match to defeat Brad Bourke. This game, with only five points difference in handicap was a classic from start to finish. The score throughout had no more then 10 points between on any end. Coming down to the wire Marc had a small lead over Brad 148/147. Marc put in two ripping bowls to cover the Jack, with Brad trying to remove them to take the match. Marc secured a 9/1 to win 157/148.
In the other consistency match, Ben Rooke proved too strong for the ever improving Greg Wright. The handicap Greg had over Ben quickly dissipated with the
excellent draw bowls from Ben to finish the victor 153/112.
In the open fours there were some returning bowlers and new bowlers playing in the competition, which was good to see.
John Cousin, Brad Bourke, Jamie and Larry played Lane Fisher, Jarrod Breen, Dave Sargent and Steve Fisher. The former team had a solid win, this was mainly due to the fact they have been playing regularly in competition and are in good form.
In the O’Brien Cup semifinal Ben and Tony proved too strong for Jamie S and Greg W. Towards the end of the match Tony and Ben had a handy lead of 11 shots and with the rain coming, down both teams decided to finish the match with two ends remaining.
