Men’s Bowls

20 August, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Congratulations to our travelling bowlers,Tot Fisher and Brent Lees who finished fourth at the Cowra pairs tournament on 9 – 10 August.

Phil and Brent Lees and Mathew Lawrence travelled to Junee for their annual Triples tournament finishing fourth, winning five of six games.

Our rookies performed well on 9 August in the zone playoff. Greg Wright and Mitch McAlister won one of their two matches and Greg Chester won both matches. Greg C went to Orange the next day to play in the semifinal but was unable to carry his form from the previous day into the match. Well done to all. The Ffll report is on the Canowindra Phoenix facebook page.

On Sunday a Major triple game was completed with Ben, Tony and Roger defeating Mitch, Tot and Crock. Mitch shot out of the gates leading 9/0 early. Crock was leading very well helping his team. Ben and Tony found some good form midway through the match which enabled a fight back and an eventual win of 31/17.

Games this weekend are:

• Saturday 23 August at 1pm, O’Brien Cup match, Dool and Peter versus Roger and Eryn.

• Sunday 24 August at 11am, Major Triples Match, Ben,Tony and Roger versus Michael, Barry and Brad.

Hopefully we will be able to get the Triples finished in the next couple of weeks. If players are unavailable the sub rule will apply.

The Open Fours competition is open for nominations. This year it is one competition.

This format will assist in completing games over a reasonable time period. The Consistency Singles are also open with the sheet on the board, please get your names in.

Badge draws for this week are Wednesday $400, Friday $500 and Sunday $350.

Good luck to the Tigers in their final playoff at Manildra this weekend. Congratulations to the under 18s and league tag teams on a good season.

Music in the Lounge is on 30 August, our artist Simone is well known and an excellent entertainer. Check facebook and club for details.
