Men’s Bowls

14 May, 2025 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

We a full card of games over the past week. On Wednesday evening, in mild conditions we had four matches. Greg Chester won seven end straight at the end of the game to defeat Harry Webb 25/19. Brent Lees had a good win over Greg Wright 25/16 This was Greg’s first singles match – well done. Brent showed great sportsmanship throughout the game. Caine Rooke defeated Cristy Webb-Sullivan 27/18, this was a very close game until last four ends when Caine made 12 shots. Ben Rooke defeated Jamie Grant.

On Thursday David Crowe and Brian McClintock finished their match with David winning.

Saturday David Crowe defeated Jamie Stewart 26/12, David continuing his good form. Eryn Traves-Kinsela in her first singles match had a hard fought win over Barry Bourke 25/16. Bob Cann played well in his first match against David Beath. Dool had to use all his experience to win. Jamie Grant and Mitch McAllister had a very close game for the most part until Mitch hit a purple patch and run away to win 28/13.

In the other match, Nigel Knight fought back from behind to defeat Marc Steven’s.

Marc led 20/13 when Nigel started drawing to the jack, winning five of the last six ends.

On Sunday four games were completed with some interesting results. Mitch McAllister continued his good form from Saturday to defeat Tony Tuimauga. The lead changed several times with Mitch jumping out of the box leading seven shots up. Tony opened his account and slowly pegged back the lead to eventually go to the front 14/10. Mitch scored 15/4 in the end of the game to win 25/18. Greg Wright defeated giant killer Nigel 25/22. Greg being behind 20/13 stormed home to win.

On Monday, Brent Lees defeated Roger Traves in a commanding performance.

Roger held shot on several ends until Brent played up to the head to take the shot. Final result 25/11.
