On Sunday we had our first round of pennants with both grades at home against Cowra. The Grade 5 game was an exciting one, with the big board lead changing several times during the match. Canowindra fought back to lead on the the final ends to win 60/54. Cowra won two rinks to one, making the points 8 to Canowindra and 2 for Cowra. It is a great start to the season in a higher grade.
In Grade 7 Canowindra went to handy lead by the half-way mark and held to win the big board convincingly. The sevens had two rinks that won and the other lost by a shot, resulting in Canowindra 9 points to Cowra 1 point.
Canowindra had several debutants playing this week, which made theirs effort even better and is an indication of how strong the depth of bowlers are available at the club.
