Men’s Bowls

9 October, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The first round of major fours saw two very close games.

In the first game Brent, Phil, Tot and Clinka came from behind with the score 17/4 against them. Harry, Jack, Jamie S and Mitch flew out of the gates, most likely confident of a win. Brents team on the 11th

end changed the length of play and clawed their way back. On the 19th they picked up a 6 shot to make the score 26/20 to secure a win for Brent, Phil Tot and Clinka – their never say die attitude paving the way for the win.

In the other game Michael, Graham, Crock and Jamie G pushed the more experienced side all the way until the 20th end with a five shot score to go to 24/16 lead.

Teddy Barney, Marc and Brad went on to win 24/19. It is good to see new bowlers playing competition.

On Monday the O’Brien Cup semi final was played with Tony and Ben defeating Brad and Sparky in a commanding performance. The game early was very close and after this point Tony and Ben won five ends straight to go to a comfortable lead. The final score was 39/21.

Next weekend the final of O’Brien Cup will be played on Saturday between Tony and Ben versus Peter and Jamie S. This should be a close match and all the best to the players. This will be the only game scheduled due to players having other commitments.

Last Thursday afternoon saw a great rollup of 14 players, and will be on again this Thursday at 2pm.

This Friday sees the commencement of twilight Bowls at 6:30pm, get you names in by 6pm so we can get the games commenced on time.

Lucky members won badge draws over the weekend with Friday and Sunday being won. The badge draws for this week are:

Wednesday $250, Friday $200 and Sunday $100. Don’t forget live music Friday night to celebrate twilight bowls and a great social evening.

All financial members don’t forget the AGM this Sunday, 13th October at 1pm.

After the limited AGM we have the men’s bowling club AGM, please note you must be financially payed up to vote.
