Men’s Bowls

10 July, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

It was great to see the completion of so many competition games on the weekend. In the O’Brien Cup game Tony and Ben proved too strong for Harry and Jack 26/13. Draw bowls was the highlight of the game. In consistency games were the following results: Brad had a solid win over Leanne 151/102, Michael had a good win over newcomer Jamis Grant 151/139, Crowey had a comfortable win over Cristy 155/115 and John Cousin, new to competition game had a great start to the season defeating Nigel 151/119. Thanks to all the markers on Sunday.

On Saturday, the zone 4 reserve fours were played. Mathew, Barney,Tony and Ben had a comfortable win 30/4 over an Orange Country Club team in the morning.

In the other game of the morning, it was a tense battle with the Orange City team winning 18/17 over Roger, Crowey, Phill and Brad. The game could have gone either way. In the final in the afternoon the Orange City team scraped home 17/16 in a tight game. Mathew, Barney, Tony and Ben held game on the final end and the skipper for Orange killed the concluding end, which saw the Orange City team gain 3 shots to win the match. It was a great day of bowls and thanks for Zone 4 for entrusting Canowindra to host the event.
