Men’s Bowls

8 May, 2024 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last weekend both pennant teams had resounding wins. The 6’s played Oberon at Canowindra, with the weather being typical for the visitor area. We had a win on all three rinks with the big board 80/33, this gave Canowindra a 10 points to nil win securing the section and moving onto the sectional playoffs in Cowra on 18th -19th May.

This week the 6,s play Milthorpe in a dead rubber, but we are looking forward to their return match. Team members will be:

• R Traves, B Lees, Teddy

• Dool, Crowey, Barney

• Mark, Phil, Harry

• Tot, Ben, Tony

Reserves are Clinka and Westy and Margo is the Manger.

The 7,s had a very good win over Woodstock 9.5 to 0.5 winning two rinks and drawing the other. If Woodstock can beat Cowra this week, Canowindra has an outside chance of moving to the playoffs at West Dubbo on 18th -19th May.

Thanks to all players for their commitment on the weekend as conditions were not great with rain on Saturday. The Forecast is not looking great for this weekend – fingers crossed.

Thursday afternoon bowls had 10 players and the Jackpot did not go off. Bowls will be played againg this Thursday at 2pm.

This Saturday is the prawn and chicken night. The cost is $30 a head and the profits will go the women and men’s bowling clubs. These funds help repair and upgrade facilities outside of the club for all members. Sherwyn and her team do a great Job and live music is provided after the meal.
