Men’s Bowls

27 September, 2023 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Games for this weekend are:

Minor singles Saturday 1pm: W Fisher v B McClintock marker H Webb. The winner to play Sunday at 11.30am against B Rooke in the final of the minor singles.

Consistency singles Saturday 1pm: R Traves v A Wyburn marker N Knight. M Lawrence V D Crowe Marker A Tuimaga

Results for last weekend had B Rooke finally defeat J Webb in an up and down game. Ben raced to a 15/5 lead to see Jack come back and level 15/15 . Ben recovered to win 25/15.

The Minor singles game between Caine and Clinka was a cracker, with the lead changing several times throughout the game. Clinka leading 21/19, scored a brilliant four shots by dragging the kitty back on his last bowl to go to win 25/19. Congratulations on a great game .

Westy and Nigel had a great tussle early in the game. Westy went on to win comfortably 154/124. It was good to see many watching and cheering on all the players.

The Thursday aftermoon mixed social bowls is getting stronger every week with the weather warming up. 18 players did battle last week and the jackpot was not won, it now reaches $325. Don’t forget to get your names in early for all players. New bowlers are welcome, or if you are starting out and want a fun afternoon please come along. An early reminder that twilight bowls will be commencing on Friday 6th October.

Mixed pairs are open for nomination, a sheet is on the notice board. This competition will predominantly be on Wednesday evening at 6pm (daylight saving time). The first round will on 11th October at 6pm. If unavailable, it is a requirement to complete the match before next Wednesday. Under these rules the matches hopefully finish in a month depending on entries.
