On 22nd April the Canowindra number 6’s travelled to Bathurst Magellan Club in the first round of the Zone 4 playoffs.
The Canowindra team had an outstanding win, defeating Wallerawang 63/43. They had good wins across all three rinks. Thanks to all the players for their great efforts. The team now head to Lithgow City Bowls Club to play Dubbo City and Cobar on Saturday, 29th April followed by Parkes Railway Club on Sunday 30th April at 1pm.
In a major pairs semi-final on Sunday morning, Brent and Zac Lees had a victory over Roger Traves and Phill Lees 21/13. The Lees boys played some excellent bowls throughout the match and now play Mathew Lawrence and Barney Robson on May 7th in the final, good luck to the finalists.
In the minor semi-final played on Sunday 23rd April, Ben Rooke and Jack Webb defeated David Watt and Nigel Knight in a close match 20/18. Excellent bowls was played by both teams. The final was drawn for Sunday 7th May against Brad Bourke and Mark Wright.
On Saturday, 6th May David Crowe, Allan Wyburn, Tony Tuimunga, Ben Rooke will verse David Beath, Roger Traves, Peter Taylor and Pat Kennedy. Triples and singles open next weekend.
Congratulations to Eleena and Maree for their efforts with the brilliant entertainment on the Sunday Sessions. There was great community support on all the events.
Also, well done to the football club on a good start to the season, with two excellent wins in first grade and great effort in the other grades. We are looking forward to a good year.
