The Canowindra Bowling Club recently hosted the Anniversary Triples and the Ron Worboys Memorial Pairs. There was a great response from multiple local businesses who supported the event. The club offers sincere thanks for this support.
There were 22 teams on Saturday, 21st January for the Anniversary Triples with a good mix of local and visting teams. Fitz’s team made the semi-finals. going down to Grenfell team, Blake Bradke. Orange Country Club, led by Geoff Lockwood defeated Blake Bradke’s team in the close fault final.
On Sunday there was a full complement of 28 teams. The weather was a little kinder, with milder conditions and the rain held off. There were four teams with three wins for the day.
The semi-finals consisted of Canowindra team Brad Bourke and Michael Traves, up against Orange city team, Brad Lamond and John Wilkson. Brad and Michael played well but unfortunately the Orange team proved too strong.
In the other semi-final, David and Nathan from Parkes played Neville and Glen Seton. The Seton pair were too strong and advanced to the final.
In a very closely contested final, Glen and Neville Seton came out victorious. Congratulations to the all winning teams.
Thanks to the Canowindra Women Bowls for organising the beautiful lunches on both days.
Pennants commence this coming Sunday, with the Number 7’s going to Forbes and the 6’s have a bye. If you are considering off playing let the club know.
Social Bowls will be held on Thursday with the Jackpot growing, 2pm start.
Friday night bowls names must be in by 6pm.
Sunday is set aside for roll up around 2pm, there is a sheet on the bar.
