Men’s Bowls

28 July, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Last Saturday the Jamie Grant Bowls Day was held, thanks to the 30 bowlers who participated. $1,233 was raised including individual donations from Dan Friend $150, Annette Thomas $150, Mick Cassidy $20 and Di Slattery $20. Winners on the day was the team of Westy, Jamie and Ned Grant. Thanks to Suzanna and Teddy Lawrence for doing the cooking. Also thanks to Teddy for donating the meat tray for the raffle. We wish Jamie all the best on his road to recovery.

On Sunday July 24th the Minor Triples Final was held with Sparky Wright, Barry and Brad Bourke against Caine Rooke, Ben Rooke and Jack Webb. Jack’s team took control early in the game for a comfortable win 30-11.

A semi-final of the Major Triples was also held with Tot Fisher, Crock Watt and Mick Traves against Westy Wyburn, Tony Tuimauga and David Crowe. After 13 ends Crowy’s team held the lead 16-15. On the next end Tot’s team scored 4 shots. After this Tot’s team was able to edge away winning the game 28-20.

This Saturday July 30th the Minor Fours semi-final will be played with Luke Barry, Brad Bourke and M Wright against M Traves, D Watt, T Fisher and L West commencing at 11am.

If your team is drawn to play a game and you are unavailable to play it is the skip’s responsibility to inform the opposing team. If a bowler is nominated for a championship game and you are unavailable to play on specific dates a note is to be placed on the notice board.

Wednesday badge draw will be $350, Friday badge draw will be $900 and Sunday badge draw will be $500. Don’t forget Bingo this Thursday at 11am.
