Last week Brent Lees was able to reach the major singles final after defeating Steve Kirkman – 31-27 and Ben Rooke 31-21.
In the final, Brent played David Crowe. After 29 ends the scores were close being 23-22 in favour of Crowy, after this Crowy edged away to win the final 32-26.
A major triple match was played with Phil Jones, Barney Robson and Richard Fitzgerald against Peter Taylor, Roger Traves and Dool Beath. After 14 ends, Richard’s team had a handy lead 14-7. Dool’s team was unable to bridge the gap with Richard’s team winning 17-14.
A major fours match was also played last Sunday with Phil Jones, Brad Bourke, Barney Robson and Richard Fitzgerald against Luke, Trevor Hoy, Jack and Harry Webb. After 12 ends the scores were close ,10-9 in favour of Richard’s team who then edged away to win the match 20-14.
Saturday May 28th no games drawn due to the football home game. Sunday May 29th major triples – B. Rooke, J and H Webb vs A Wyburn, T Tuimauga and D Crowe. P Lees, B Lees, Z Lees vs S Kirkman, M Wright and I Nelder.
Nominations for the O’Brien Cup are now open. A sheet for names is on the noticeboard. Memberships for 2022/23 are now available for payment. Wednesday badge draw will be $1,050 Friday badge draw will be $200 and Sunday badge draw will be $1,500. Bingo this Thursday at 11am.
