Friday night saw a good roll up of 18 players for twilight social, a good sign for future Fridays. The first round was played in the ‘cock of the walk’ which featured ‘Bomber’ Barney Robson making an appearance against ‘Mad Dog’ Milburn who mauled and de-cocked Barney in a short lived match 16-2. Mad Dog now takes on Sparky in an effort to defend the title.
On Saturday a semi-final round in the major 4’s was played. New member to the club Graham Wilson lead for Teddy Lawrence, Barney and PJ against the re-constituted side of Terry Mooney, Stephen Fisher, Vincenzo and Milburn. PJ’s boys were off to an early lead and had quickly knocked up 13 shots to 2 in just 7 ends. Over the next half a dozen ends Milburn’s side clawed a few shots back and made the score semi respectable at 16-7. The second half was a complete turn around and the underdogs in Milburns side showed that terrific ‘never say die’ attitude, which ultimately broke the opposition. By the 17th end it the boys had pulled together a hard fought win of 19-18. Bad luck to the boys who went away for district pairs over the weekend.
Club singles will start this weekend so check the board to see if your match is drawn. If you have entered you are expected to mark at least one game. Dont forget social bowls this Friday evening with the jackpot as usual. Names in at 6pm for 6:30 start.
