Last Thursday local Member for Orange Phil Donato spent the day in Canowindra meeting with locals. Phil enjoyed a cool off at the Canowindra Swimming Pool before holding a free BBQ at the Services Club to meet with locals to discuss the issues affecting them. Phil supported local businesses by buying supplies for the BBQ at the local shops including the local butcher and supermarket.
Phil also visited the Tilga St Children’s Crossing which has been of concern to many parents and staff at both Canowindra Public School and St Edward’s Primary School for some years now. “Our kids are precious and their safety is No.1, so that’s why I’ve requested Roads Minister Melinda Pavey implement a supervised crossing at this dangerous stretch of roadway at Tilga Street in Canowindra,” said Mr Donato.
“Canowindra Public School and St Edward’s Primary School are on either side of this roadway. I’ve been advised that there have been too many near misses and students have narrowly avoided being struck by approaching trucks and vehicles,” added Mr Donato.
Mr Donato has encouraged the Roads Minister to resolve this serious safety issue before the kids return to school at the end of the month.
