Dear Editor,
I would like to pay tribute to the men and women of our community services in this town. Last Thursday night, 13th November, sadly there was a house fire in Charlotte Street. The Fire Brigade, Police, Ambulance and Essential Energy Workmen were in attendance within minutes of my call to triple 0. Although there was no hope of saving the home, the efficiency they all worked with was just amazing to watch. Thanks to the firemen and my wonderful family friend, Bill Watson. My home, as far as I can ascertain, wasn’t affected. Fires are terrifying and take over so quickly, we should all be very aware and have a plan ready just in case. I would like to thank all these wonderful people, we can be very proud of our services and the men and women who serve in them.
We often say things about the disadvantages of living in a small country town but for me the advantages far outweigh them by a country mile. The care and concern shown to me by many people this past week has been overwhelming. Thank you all.
Kind regards,
Mary Finn
