This Saturday 21st May is the Australian Federal Election so here are some tips on how to make sure your vote counts.
Local polling booths will be open on Saturday from 8am-6pm and are locally located at:
• Canowindra High School
• Cargo Public School
• Eugowra Public School
• Cudal Public School
So how do you make sure your vote counts? On election day you will be given two ballot papers. A green one for the House of Representatives and a white one for the Senate.
For the Senate on the white ballot paper you can choose to vote either above or below the line.
On the green ballot paper for the House of Representatives you need to put a ‘1’ in the box beside the candidate who is your first choice, ‘2’ in the box beside your second choice and so on until you have numbered every box. You must enter a number in every box for your vote to count!
If you make a mistake don’t worry just simply ask for another ballot paper and start again.
