As the cost-of-living rises, older people living in the Cabonne Electorate are urged to check for unclaimed money that may be owed to them. Revenue NSW provides an online unclaimed money service that people can use to check for unclaimed money.
NSW Nationals Upper House MP Sam Farraway said anyone can check for unclaimed money on the Revenue NSW website.
“It is a free service offered by the Liberal and Nationals Government to get money back in the hands of its owners,” Mr Farraway said.
“It’s as easy as putting in your name and submitting a claim online via the Revenue NSW Website.”
“The forgotten money held by Revenue NSW includes share dividends, trust accounts, refunds, commissions, deceased estates and money from a range of other sources.”
“Claiming money can ease the cost-of-living pressures seniors might be feeling by ensuring they receive what is rightfully theirs.”
The Unclaimed Money register is a caretaker account within Revenue NSW for money which has not made it to the correct owner for any number of reasons including a change of address or name, misplaced paperwork or it has simply been forgotten.
Revenue NSW periodically carries out data matching activities and attempts to contact potential owners of new items received from enterprises.
Seniors can search for unclaimed money and learn more about the process at www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/unclaimed-money.
