The crowds at the cellar door last weekend were large to celebrate this year’s Cowra Wine Show. This is the 32nd year running for the show and it saw almost 1500 entries from all over the country plus 220 exhibitors. Being early in the year, this event also helps winemakers see how their products stack up against the competition.
Rosnay Organic Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 took the gold as best local red wine of the show and Swinging Bridge took home the best white wine with their 2012 Chardonnay. Windowrie also won a bronze. Rosnay almost won the national class for best red wine as well, ending up second.
Saturday night held a public tasting which enticed a crowd of 700. Festivities and dancing went on until the early hours of the morning with the revellers soaking up the atmosphere… and the alcohol. Chairman for the Cowra Wine Show Peter Jeffery said, “Judging went well, there were a lot of good quality wines being presented. The show finishes up on August 9th with a black tie dinner presentation. Trophies will be presented and winning wines will be matched to food during the evening.”
