The Canowindra Tennis Club were presented with a cheque for $14,000 by Mr. Bill Hitzinger, Chairman of Southern Phones for the past 14 years, last Wednesday.
This grant is part of the Southern Phones Grants Schemes and will supplement an earlier Community Assistance grant of $13,683 from Cabonne Council to seal the court. The money will be used to provide lighting at the court. Southern Phones is owned by 41 local council shareholders who all have equal shares with Cabonne Council being one of the Councils involved. They operate an inbound service only, with all profits returned to the community through the $1,000,000 Grants Scheme. Whilst their call centre is based at Moruya, they service rural Australia and sell phones and resources that
are much better and cheaper than their competition.
The Canowindra Tennis Club would like to thank Southern Phones and said what a great opportunity it is for the community. It is not only the Tennis Club which will benefit, but also the schools and people in the community who support and use the Club. Without the help of Cabonne Council this
grant would not have been possible, so a big thank you to Council as well.
