Canowindra High School students Nina Cuddy and Hannah Gordon, along with Emma Haslam from Cowra will brave the shave this Friday at The Palms Markets.
This Friday 20th October, at the Palms Market, three local high school students are shaving their hair to help Australian families facing blood cancer.
Canowindra High School, year 9 students Nina Cuddy and Hannah Gordon, together with Emma Haslam from St Raphael’s Catholic School, Cowra have accepted the challenge to shave their locks.
The funds raised will give families facing blood cancer the support and information they need, while also helping research projects that are discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer.
The first ever ‘Shave for a Cure’ was held in 1998 when the Graydon decided to do something to raise both funds and awareness for those suffering from leukaemia. From that year on, it has been an annual event.
The statistics of leukaemia are shocking. Every day 53 Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer. Sixteen of these will lose their life. Help is definitely needed.
