Local Man and His Wife’s Brave Struggle- How You Can Help

20 August, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Lyndsey Ben and their daughter Nyah
In July Lyndsey Clark was taken ill after a Carnival Cruise. Doctors diagnosed her first with a virus, then pneumonia, sending her home several times. Lyndsey is wife to Ben Clark who grew up in Canowindra and went to school here, his mother is Kerrie Clark. Last week, Lyndsey was back in hospital, baffling doctors. Finally after a full work up, the worst news was revealed. Lyndsey has stage two (secondary) liver cancer, meaning the cancer originated somewhere else in the body and spread. To maintain the family’s privacy we won’t disclose how much time Lyndsey has left but sadly it will not be the lifetime she had envisioned with her beautiful five year old daughter and husband. Lyndsey has started chemotherapy to give her more precious moments with those she loves; she is an extremely brave woman, staying strong for those around her. Linda Brown, a family member, wanted to do something to ease the burden this young family are feeling. Initially the goal was to raise funds to help Lyndsey pay for the car registration this month, but Linda believes they can do more, setting up an online fundraising page for Lyndsey. “If you can help, we won’t be able to thank you enough. If you can’t, that’s ok too. Maybe tonight, just hug a little longer and make sure your children, husband, wife, parents know you love them” says Linda. Rick Slattery, Ben’s lifelong friend, is currently organising a trivia night and silent auction at the Services Club for the 13th Sept to help raise money.
