Local Land Services Grant Rounds Open

21 September, 2022 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Local Land Services latest round of grants has recently opened for landholders and residents in the Central West to deliver community projects. Below are some of the grants that are currently open.

COMMUNITY SMALL GRANTS

This program aims to empower local communities to adapt to the impacts of adverse conditions whilst continuing to thrive.

The challenges presented over the past few years have had various impacts on local communities, groups, and the projects they support. This project allows for community-focused groups to continue doing what they do best.

Grants of $1,000 – $5,000 are available to deliver projects that align with the project priorities and can be delivered by 30 April 2023. Project ideas could include but not be limited to improving an existing site of significance, community awareness-raising events or workshops, school programs and a range of other projects.

2022-23 HEALTHY LANDSCAPES INCENTIVES

Landholders in the Central West Local Land Services region are invited to apply for funding to undertake a variety of on-farm projects in 2022/23 (subject to eligibility). This funding will be rolled out under the Healthy Landscapes Incentive Funding program with the main goals of improving natural farm assets and improving overall ecological functioning across the Central West region.

The program will target on-ground works to protect and improve waterways, threatened ecological communities and habitat for hollow dwelling species.

The Riparian Restoration project aims to work with landholders and enhance riparian habitat along the Lachlan River and its tributaries within the Central West Local Land service region.

The Improved Ecological Communities project will work to restore and conserve areas of critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland and Fuzzy Box Woodlands near Dubbo, Narromine, Wellington, Tomingley, Forbes and Grenfell.

The Securing the Swift Parrot project aims to increase community awareness about the species, monitor areas of known and potential habitat and carry out on ground works to preserve and restore habitat and corridors in priority areas.

The Making Inland Glossies Great Again project aims to protect this threatened species; Central Inland NSW is home to a significant, distinctive but declining Glossy Black-Cockatoo population concentrated in forest and woodland areas stretching from Parkes to Narrabri.
