The Canowindra Services Club Hall was a hub of energy, strength, and community spirit over the weekend as it played host to a thrilling regional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament.
Competitors traveled from all over the region, representing teams from Canberra, Young, Orange, Bathurst, Cudal, Goulburn, and of course, our very own Canowindra.
With over 60 dedicated athletes entering the tournament, the day saw an incredible display of skill across more than 240 action-packed matches.
Safety and inclusivity took center stage at this year’s event, which featured a brand-new air mat—the very first of its kind in Australia. This innovative setup ensured the competition was safe and accessible for participants of all ages and walks of life.
The future of the sport also looks exceptionally bright, with the local kids training right here in Canowindra under the guidance of Mick George and his family delivering amazing performances. The hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship from all competitors on the mat were a credit to their training and coaches.
Events like this highlight the fantastic community spirit and growing popularity of martial arts in the region. Congratulations to all the organisers, volunteers, and competitors who helped make the weekend an outstanding success.
