It’s all systems go for our Local Council Election, which is being held on Saturday, 4 December 2021.
For those not yet in the know, local councils are responsible for: public health (including health inspections of shops), local roads and footpaths, street signs and bus stops, local kindergartens and pre-schools, local libraries, local sports fields and playground, community services such as meals-on-wheels, building regulations and development and garbage collection.
Local councils are not responsible for schools, hospitals, State conservation and environment, highways, railways and public transport, public works, agriculture and fishing, industrial relations, community services, sport and recreation, consumer affairs, police, prisons and emergency services.
Early voting is now open and everyone is eligible to vote early in person.
Electors can apply online, over the phone or by completing a paper form available on the NSW Electoral Commission website. Postal vote applications must be received by the NSW Electoral Commission by 5pm Monday, 29 November 2021.
Polling venues throughout the Cabonne Shire can be found online at www.elections.nsw.gov.au. Local residents are encouraged to check the website to ensure their enrolment details are also up-to-date.
