Just over a week away is the launch of the major art exhibition to be held in the Old IGA Store, Gaskill Street, Canowindra. Whilst it
is a two week event, the official opening will be held on Friday October 14, which is also the official launch of the Baroquefest, which
will hold its first concert at All Saints Church at 7.30 pm that evening. Known as “Artful Eight” all of the artists who are exhibiting will be in attendance and can chat to you about their works. This will also be the start of the official Canowindra Arts Trail. Hopefully “Artful Eight” will help establish the base for a permanent showcase and training ground for local artistic expression for years to come.
This is the first step towards establishing a permanent Canowindra Arts Centre for all residents of the town and its surrounding
villages so that budding artists are able to develop and exhibit their creative skills. Other local artists will have their works of art displayed in their own galleries around the town. Local artists at the exhibition will include Ann Morton, David Isbester, Derek
Maitland, Isabelle Mathieu, Jan Platt, Heather Vallance, Sue Hodge and Virginia Mooney.
Make sure that you drop in and have a look at this great exhibition and wander around the village to see all of the other artists and their work on display. You will be surprised by the high quality of work on display and the different styles of artform displayed by the various artists.
