LEST WE FORGET…This ANZAC Day.
This Saturday 25th April, 2020 ANZAC Day will be commemorated in a way not ever seen before.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions on public gatherings there will be no local ANZAC Day services this year in Canowindra.
RSL Australia is encouraging all local residents to stand in your driveway, on your verandah or in your living room, facing the east, to remember all those who have served and sacrificed at 6am this ANZAC Day. Residents can tune into ABC radio where the Last Post will be played and The Ode will be recited.
There will also be an opportunity to commemorate the day at home with two televised services as follows:
The Australian War Memorial will be televising the Dawn Service at 5:30am on ABC and streamed online. The RSL NSW will then facilitate an ANZAC Day service at 10am, televised from the Hyde Park Memorial.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
