Dear Editor
I agree with Bob Sherwood – I was also amazed by the lack of mention of anything in Cabonne in the recent “Your Guide to Regional NSW”, to the point that I wondered whether Cabonne forgot to submit anything or their submission was lost in transit.
That aside – unlike everything else that is mentioned in the booklet, the Canowindra fish fossil deposit is unique in the world and the display of those fossils at Age of Fishes Museum “World Class” according to David Attenborough – and yet, neither rated a mention.
Wine, produce, festivals, cattle drives, historical sites, zoos, astronomy and, dare I say it, even ballooning, can be found elsewhere in Australia and in the world. Canowindra (and Cabonne) is in the fortunate and enviable position to have a truly unique and iconic tourist attraction that every other attraction and business in the region could benefit from!
