Dear Editor,
I have been a resident of Canowindra for the last 12 years. I moved here after being fortunate enough to travel and live in several capital cities, not just in Australia, but also abroad.
Friends from the city often ask me why I live here? To the residents of Canowindra and the surrounding towns, it is quite obvious and I actually respond with – who wouldn’t want to live here!
From all the benefits of living in Canowindra, there is one aspect that really stands out and that is the people that call Canowindra home.
Your paper’s headline article last week was – “Wow – What a Week!” and I absolutely agree with you.
The volunteer committee for the Balloon Challenge, along with the community groups that made the Balloon week a spectacular success, are to be absolutely congratulated.
The one event I really want to tip my hat to, was the enLIVEn Music Festival.
The acts the committee were able to secure to come here were amazing. Eskimo Joe have been one of Australia’s most decorated Aria nominated bands in the past decade and to have them play on the Oval for their only east coast show is mind blowing!
Jon Stevens and his band were a sight and sound to behold and a special shout out to Phat Brass – they made the night complete for us!
I am not sure why there weren’t 15,000 plus people in attendance on this night?
Was it COVID? Is it now FOGO (fear of going out) instead of FOMO (fear of missing out)? Whatever it was – I hope the committee does it again. It was an awesome event and I am looking forward to seeing what big names you bring to this small town next year.
Well done to all involved, my city friends thought our town was punching above its weight and boy did you deliver!
