Life can change so quickly. On Monday morning 14th March 2022 I went to have a shower and found my right leg had gone numb and wouldn’t work!
My husband had just left our home to go to Cowra for the morning and the house was locked and I didn’t have my phone with me so had to get from the bathroom through the walk in robe to the bedroom and throw myself onto the bed and phone “000”.
At this stage my right leg had no feeling what so ever!
The Paramedics arrived quickly and also the fire brigade!
The front door and wire door were locked so the Paramedics Shane and Laura were “magnificent” and worked out a way to get Laura through the tiny window to get to me.
Once out of the house I was taken to Canowindra Hospital and Dr Nicholas O’Ryan was on and is my Doctor.
After being taken by helicopter to RPA in Sydney they discovered two blood clots in my leg so I was operated on that night.
A few days later my heart became a problem and I needed a pacemaker fitted. I was in hospital about 10 days!
I just want to say thank you to Shane and Laura who worked as an important team keeping me calm and getting me to Canowindra Hospital.
To our wonderful and hardworking Doctor Nicholas O’Ryan who is the “HERO” here.
To all the great nurses at Canowindra Hospital that were there on that day especially Tara Bushell and Jenny McClintock.
To the many Canowindra friends and relatives thank you for all the flowers, phone calls, texts, gifts, cards, food and dinners (and even food for our cat).
We in Canowindra are so very lucky to have such wonderful and devoted medical staff that do everything to keep us safe and alive.
