Dear Canowindra Phoenix,
The NSW government, led by Premier Perrottet, continues to claim the health system is ‘strong’ and is ‘coping’. However, this is evidently not the truth!
For years, nurses and midwives have highlighted the serious staffing issues plaguing our public hospitals and the NSW government has failed to listen. We are continuing to work under immense pressure with chronic staff shortages and ever-increasing workloads. The current COVID-19 outbreak has exposed this fragile system and we are beyond breaking point. Our registrations and the safety and well-being of our patients are at risk EVERY SINGLE DAY.
For this reason, the members of the NSW Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia have voted to take national strike action against the NSW government on Tuesday 15th February 2022. As an act of support to our colleagues across the state, the Canowindra branch has decided to participate in strike action.
We invite the community to rally with NSW Nursing and Midwives’ association members on Tuesday February 15th at the front gates of the hospital between 8.30am and 9.30am. Please bring your nearest and dearest and join us for a well-deserved morning tea break.
Kind regards
NSW Nursing & Midwives’ Association members of the Canowindra Memorial Soldier’s Hospital Branch
