What helps with diabetes?
Hello,
As much as we all would like a ‘cure’ for diabetes (from which I also suffer) the only cures are to first, not become afflicted and second, have a pancreas transplant.
Diabetes is either genetically inherent or created as a result of a high lipid diet (fats) and low physical exercise to burn off the intake of fat, glucose (sugars) and carbohydrates.
To ameliorate diabetes one must consume medicines or inject (as I do up to three times a day with both long-acting and short reaction insulins) to overcome high Blood Sugar Levels (BSL).
This is not perfect and I do have low (dangerous) and high BSL levels which in the longer term causes heart and eye-sight problems, both from which I suffer.
While I applaud all fundraising for the prevention of diabetes I must say that we all need to get a grip on the reality of the disease and look at our diet.
Sorry to be the bringer of bad tidings but honesty should prevail and best wishes cannot cure the disease.
Diabetes Australia information is readily available, as is the advice from your GP and specialist Endocrinologists.
