I came back to Canowindra after many years to attend the 100 Years of Rugby League celebrations which was most enjoyable and well organised. However, I was disappointed to hear Canowindra Oval—which has a long history of sports people and has been supported by and maintained by Canowindra, reopened as “Tom Clyburn Oval.” The stand organised by Apex some years ago was wrongly signed “Tom Clyburn Oval” should have been stand check with Apex Club. The Canowindra Oval should always be Canowindra Oval. I am sure many long-term Canowindra residents will agree with me!
