The Nullabor
Hello to all around Canowindra and sur-rounds from Al and Deb Symons with a bit of a summary of our 6 month travel around Oz.
Leaving early April was a good idea as it got us across the bottom part of Australia and over in the west before the cold weath-er set in. The experience of crossing the Nullabor and then going all up along the West Australian coast is a must do.
Travel the Gibb River Road to Home Val-ley Station and a helicopter flight over the landscape. Then onto the massive Lake Argyle on the Ord River and a river cruise was great. Onwards to Dundee Beach in the Northern Territory, great fishing area but be shark and crocodile aware.
Continued on over into Queensland and way up to the tip at Cape York where we snapped an axle on the caravan. Made it down to Townsville and ended up trading the 2001 model van in for a 2016 25 foot New Age Van.
Down through QLD to NSW at Lightning Ridge then through to Bourke and Broken Hill, very dry all through there.
Mildura, Echuca and Albury on the Mur-ray River was a lot different, nice and green with good crops growing everywhere.
All up a great trip and looking forward to our next one. Some approximate costs be-ing fuel $8,000, food $5,200, refreshments $2,600, new tyres $1,200, two car services $1,500, helicopter ride/boat trip and tours $2,000 and caravan parks $6,000.
So til next time all the best from Al and Deb
