Hello Editor,
An update so far on our trip right around Oz taking at least 6 months and around 30,000 kms.
We left on Monday 1st April and headed to Swan Hill/Lake Boga visiting elderly relatives. Deb caught a carp at the lake, we also visited the Swan Hill Pioneer Museum, a must see for those interested in our early days. There is an old paddle steamer there called the Gem within the museum area which my friend from Swan Hill and myself were on back in 1963 when towed on the Murray River from down Piangal way to be permanently moored at the Museum.
We left Swan Hill for Adelaide visiting more relatives. After Adelaide we headed to Port Augusta, sightseeing and fishing for 4 days then further down south to Coffin Bay. Great town for sightseeing fishing and eating fish and oysters.
On Monday 15th April we arrived at Ceduna staying at the Big4 Caravan Park for the next week. So far caught no fish here yet but plenty of time. At the Port area at Ceduna they load large ships with local salt heading overseas. We bought 2 dozen unshucked oysters for $28 and 5 pieces filleted whiting for $20 great prices and ready for Easter.
Next Monday we start across the Nullarbor staying at the Nullarbor Roadhouse then on through to Eucla just into the West Australian Border.
Regards Allan and Debbie Symons
